Steven HIll

LEAD PASTOR

828-294-2534 ext 203
Steven was born and raised in Waco, TX, and started following Jesus when he was 7. He is grateful to have grown up in a Christian home where church was always a family priority. His father is a sportswriter and served as a deacon in their church and consistently modeled a servant's heart for Steven growing up. His mother is a retired schoolteacher and served the church in many ways as well. Initially feeling a call to ministry at 14, Steven resisted that call out of a desire to play college baseball and then to become a baseball coach, like the one who had a profound impact on his life for Christ during his parent's divorce in high school. God patiently but persistently pursued Steven for vocational ministry, a calling Steven joyfully fully surrendered to when he was 17.

After graduating from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in Biblical Studies, Steven graduated from seminary at George W Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Waco, TX. Since then, he has completed the coursework for his ThM degree and is nearing the end of his doctoral degree in Expository Preaching from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Steven and Hayley met in college, and he spent a whole summer's income (church camp wages) on their first "date," tickets to a sold-out concert, even though he promised his dad it would go toward his college tuition. It was a worthwhile investment! They have been married since 2010 and have two wonderful children together: Amos (6) and Micah Jane (2). They have also seen God's goodness and sovereignty in the midst of grief and loss, suffering through two difficult miscarriages as well. These times of pain and confusion drew them closer together as a couple and even closer to Christ.

Steven has served in the local church as a church receptionist's intern, pastoral intern, Kids Pastor, Student Pastor, Young Adult Pastor, Campus Pastor, and Lead Pastor. Steven and Hayley have served in churches in Texas, Arkansas, and Washington state. He has a deep love for the Word of God and is passionate about the local church, especially in the areas of expository preaching, disciple-making, and vision implementation. He enjoys being relationally accessible to the church and he and Hayley love hosting people in their home.
Steven enjoys hiking, reading, hunting, lifting weights, and coaching his kids in sports he never played (like soccer).
